We kicked off the year with our January Workshop (1/7/23), a one-day workshop planned entirely by our Student Advisory Group (pictured below). 66 students attended the workshop, which had sessions led by our students & alumni as well as guest speakers.
Students were happy to be together in-person again, saying that "seeing everyone again definitely made me feel more connected, and meeting new people made me feel the connection even more" (AO Class of 2028 student).
Throughout the day, they wrote encouraging messages to each other that they can look back at, even when they aren't able to be together.
Our Student Advisory Group chose the topics covered throughout the sessions, which included: Skills for Student Success, Financial Literacy, Networking, Mental Health, and advice from former Access Opportunity students. Guest speakers (Cristina Chacon and Whittney Rojo) were a big highlight amongst the students.
Overall, it was a great workshop that will set the tone for an amazing year! Thank you to all who attended and supported the event.
