Communications & Events Coordinator | Boulder, CO

Access Opportunity's mission is to create opportunities for high-potential students from low-income households to define their individual paths through high school, college, and career, ultimately benefiting the lives of others.   • Help us share the story of our students and program to inspire our community. 

  • Contribute to communications, including e-newsletters, donor packets, and direct appeal letters.

  • Manage social media and other community-building and public relations efforts.

  • Track and ensure regular updates to Communications materials, including website, blog, impact statistics and infographics, information packets, and any other written materials. 

  • Support giving campaigns, such as the annual year-end appeal, including coordinating bulk mailings and digital communications. 

  • Manage information systems that support Communications and Development activities, including website builders, email messaging systems, and customer relationship management databases.

  • Support the Development Director by owning the process that tracks and acknowledges giving in a timely manner.


  • Support the Board Chair and an events committee to plan, coordinate, and execute special events, including the Raise a Class annual fundraiser. 

  • Represent Access Opportunity in a positive manner at all times, with students, supporters, staff, volunteers, vendors, and others. 

  • Liaise with vendors, including restaurant sponsors who provide the generous support that makes Raise a Class a distinct experience. 

  • Prepare briefing and other logistics materials, including staffing plans, for events.

  • Create and coordinate production of event communications such as the program book and signage.

  • Coordinate volunteer engagement program for Raise a Class and other events. 

  • Help solicit auction donations and create materials for auction. 

  • Maintain documentation to aid in planning and executing future events.

Skills and Abilities 

  • Bachelor's degree required.  

  • Passion for equity and developing youth to make meaning in their lives. 

  • Demonstrated desire to make a positive impact on a community. 

  • Self-direction and high degree of organization; able to set clear targets and achieve results.

  • Proven ability to work within processes with an attention to detail. 

  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.

  • Excellent people skills and positive, flexible attitude. 

  • Excellent verbal and written skills. A writing sample will be required with your application.

  • Commitment to developing and working within a collaborative environment; works well with others to listen, solve problems and achieve common goals. 

  • Demonstrated high proficiency and interest in key technologies including, but not limited to, Google, Mac, Adobe, and Microsoft products; databases; website builders; marketing platforms for digital communications.

  • Experience with design tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite is preferred but not required.



  • This role is full-time and includes occasional evenings and weekends.

  • The salary range for this position is $35,000-$40,000 commensurate on experience. Benefits include options for health and dental insurance, paid time off, expense reimbursement, and professional development.
