POSITION OVERVIEW:

As our Donor Relations Manager, you will support our mission as a member of our Development Team, raising funds to support our various program areas and services, including, for example: social-emotional learning, scholarships, and college and career counseling. This role reports to the Development Director, and works collaboratively with the Development and Communications Coordinator, the Operations Manager, and the Board Chair.


The Donor Relations Manager is a frontline role focused on the full lifecycle of fundraising, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The position will manage a portfolio of 80-120 donors; this could include individuals or corporate and foundation sponsorships. In addition, this role will support the planning and implementation of stewardship and recognition of all Access Opportunity donors, including individual and/or annual stewardship plans for key donors as assigned, stewardship events, and thank you calls. This role will also provide support on the planning and execution of fundraising events, including working with video vendors to tell our story in a compelling manner.


The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong relationship-building skills. Qualified candidates will have approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. The salary range is $60,000-$70,000.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of fundraising for a portfolio of 80-120 donors.

  • Meet regularly with prospects and donors to cultivate relationships.

  • Identify donors with the capacity for increased levels of giving.

  • Work with the Development Director to plan and create donor engagement plans.

  • Develop and implement donor communications in collaboration with the Development and Communications Coordinator.

  • Track gifts and maintain clean, detailed donor records using Salesforce; fulfill reporting requirements to all stakeholders.

  • Work with the Development Director and Board Chair to plan and execute fundraising events.

  • Work with the Development Director to plan and execute 3-5 stewardship and cultivation events throughout the year.

  • Carry out any additional assignments required to fulfill the mission of Access Opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience; transferable skills, such as direct sales, may be considered in lieu of fundraising experience.

  • Prior experience with donor relations and stewardship preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience writing donor acknowledgements, cultivation materials, and other fundraising copy preferred.

  • Experience managing databases, CRMs, and/or using fundraising software.

  • Understands Access Opportunity's gift acceptance policies and ensures ethical compliance with fundraising best practices, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Access Opportunity's vision and mission.

  • Self-motivated; able to multi-task with excellent attention to detail and deadlines; and can perform successfully without regular supervision.

  • Demonstrated high proficiency and interest in key technologies including, but not limited to, Google Workspace, Adobe, Microsoft Office, Slack, Salesforce, and marketing platforms for digital communications.

While our working hours are generally 9am-5pm M-Th, this position also requires occasional evening and weekend availability. You must have the ability to periodically travel to meet with donors and other stakeholders throughout the Denver Metro area.

Note: Access Opportunity has a physical office space that can be utilized as desired, as well as regular in-person meetings and gatherings. Otherwise, team members are welcome to work remotely.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000, with a generous benefit package. These benefits include fully covered health and dental insurance, a four-day work week, unlimited paid time off, enrollment into a 403b retirement plan after one year of service with a 3% company match, and mileage reimbursement.

TIMELINE:

This position will remain open until filled. Our ideal start date is July 17, 2023, but we are willing to be flexible for the right candidate. The hiring process will begin with a one-on-one interview with our Development Director. Select candidates will then participate in one panel interview with other members of our staff team. Interviews will take place virtually.
