A proud Chicagoan, Bekah misses her home city but has found a second home in Colorado. She has enjoyed meeting new people and getting to experience a lot of ‘firsts’—camping, seeing the mountains, and lots of amazing wildlife! In her free time she likes to bake and rollerblade.
At Colorado College, Bekah initially studied Environmental Policy, changing her major to Art before her senior year. No matter the field, she remained interested in how she could use what she learned for positive social change. Bekah hopes to encourage students to find a way to study what they’re passionate about!
At Access Opportunity, Bekah is excited to help support students through their transition from high school to college. She is a firm believer in the importance of education, but also in the inequalities it can reveal and perpetuate. Bekah is very interested in academic and psychological counseling in high school and higher education.
Favorite College Experience: “Studying abroad in Spain! I didn’t exactly plan to study abroad, but a friend (whom I had basically just met) convinced me to go with her. Living with a host family in a new country is an experience I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful for that trip. It exposed me to a different way of life, helped me learn new skills and take risks, and brought me closer to my friend—who is now like family to me!”
Advice for High School and College Students: “Trust yourselves! You’ve worked so hard to get where you are, so trust that you’re capable of dealing with anything that comes your way… and that you aren’t alone in doing so.”
Favorite Food: “It’s a tie between Middle Eastern food and fried chicken!”
